To ensure use of the most secure encryption standards for communications, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 will no longer be available to use with GoFax after April 19th, 2022.
Why?
Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 are security protocols for establishing encryption channels over computer networks. However, due to best practice, evolving regulatory requirements as well as new security vulnerabilities in TLS 1.0, GoFax recommends that customers remove all TLS 1.0/1.1 dependencies.
Does this affect me?
SOAP API Users (Legacy)
If you use the GoFax SOAP API to integrate with GoFax you will need to configure your API integration to use TLS 1.2 or higher. We recommend your developers review and start implementing any required code changes immediately to avoid service disruption. TLS 1.0 and 1.1 will be disabled on April 20th, 2022.
Desktop Edition Software (Legacy)
If you are using the GoFax Desktop Software on your PC, you will need to migrate to using the new GoFax App. The Desktop Edition will be retired on April 20th, 2022. We recommend downloading the new GoFax App and starting using this immediately to avoid service disruption.
What do I need to do?
Please start planning your upgrade path now. If you use the GoFax SOAP API, you will need to configure your API integration to GoFax to only use the TLS 1.2 encryption standard or higher.
For SOAP API users:
To ensure your fax/SMS integrations with GoFax continue to operate after the 19th of April 2022, your developers will need to review and update your API integration with GoFax to be configured to use TLS 1.2 encryption or higher.
Alternatively, we recommend use of the GoFax RESTful API. Whilst the SOAP API is available, as a legacy API, it will not support new features available in GoFax. View the RESTful API swagger.
For Desktop Edition Software Users:
To ensure you can continue to conveniently and securely send and receive fax and SMS messages via GoFax from your desktop or mobile device, we recommend downloading the GoFax App and making the switch. The new GoFax App replaces our existing Desktop Software and is compatible across Windows, Mac, Android & iOS. A fast, secure, and convenient way to send and receive fax and SMS from anywhere connected to the internet.
